00926-M0491EUEE- Catalogue- A. DAVIS & CO. WHOLESALE JEWELERS, Chicago, IL, ca 1890s. 30pp pocket watches and movements, 7 pp vest chains, 1 pg silk fobs; lockets, charms, rings, silverware. Beautiful large sized engravings. The bad news: mice have been at this one - there is a 1-1/2" x 3" chew in outer margin and 1" x 2" chew at gutter. Of approximately six-hundred illustrations, about fifty are touched in some way by these chews. Minor cover stains. Art is clear and clean otherwise. 9-1/4" x 12" x 48pp. Also included is 4pp insert in excellent condition of large clocks and candelabra and an order blank w/return envelope with some damage.  $48.00

About as comprehensive a treatment as we've seen. Fold out center spread presents their jewelry line, remainder is a virtual encyclopedia of diamond information. An Alabama jewelry store started in 1836 (the year before Tiffany & Co of NY) by a hardworking Prussian named Frederick Bromberg. Lots of historical Alabama pictures.
