06094-M0198CESA- Newspaper- THE SPORTING WORLD,  New York. Vol. XVI,  No. 1866. Tuesday, July 19, 1892. Generally,  horse racing news.  9-1/2" front page article on The Pool Room Business.  Article discusses the betting activity, not a pool or billiards game. "Not Near As Much Money Handled As On Saturday. Several Good Things Backed, but Went the Way of all Good Things. Gloucester Players Were Not in Form." This was a place where bets were booked.  We could  picture this as somewhat similar to the set in the movie, "The Sting".  Anyway-- it's a great piece of history when the country had very few laws restricting betting. Lots of ads for horses (two have illustrations) and racing related.  On salmon-colored stock. Gutter has some small chips, otherwise very good condition. 14"x 20-1/2"x 4pp. $58.00

Photos of 1926 camp scenes, testimonials, camp ground lists for all Great Britain, organized camp rules, ads for camp food, equip, etc. This unusual catalogue offers goods for hire for specific periods of time and were to be returned by consignee. Besides tents of every imaginable type and size, equip includes camp stoves, blankets, lanterns; folding washstands, cots, chairs, bathtubs, tables, etc.; buckets, kettles, mess ranges, boilers, latrine huts, other latrine items, etc. Well illustrated. Little catalogue of tents and camping accessories for sale and hire, called "The Sunshine Trail and Something About Tents" by Mr. Barralet. He was also author of "Camping and Caravanning"; Organizer of Land Camps during the War (WWI), and formerly Private Secretary to Sir Robert Baden-Powell (founder of Boy Scouts). Inserted are two letters: 1st is on nice head from The "Health First" Assoc and has short typed note of transmittal for one of Mr. Barralet's books; 2nd is on Mr. Barralet's stationery and contains a letter written and signed by him in fountain pen, expressing thanks to an inquirer in Edinburgh for his interest. It's dated 23 May 1927. All in excellent condition. Catalogue is 5" x 8" x 12pp. All. $55.00

06226-M0698EEE- Brochure- RAPALA FISHING LURES, no place, no date. A company by the name of NORMARK makes these now, in Finland. At least that is where a fisherman named Lauri Rapala developed his original lure in 1936. We'll include the story of Mr. Rapala with this item. This piece dates to probably the 1960s(?). It's a little 6 panel piece with illustrations of 12 lures, the Rapala Knot, book advertisement, and instructions. It was probably packed with a lure originally. Light wrinkles. Unfolded measures 2-3/4"x 11". $22.00
